    Adult Ministries

Men and Women of Any Age

"Meanwhile a Jew named Apollos, a native of Alexandria, came to Ephesus. He was a learned man, with a thorough knowledge of the Scriptures. He had been instructed in the way of the Lord, and he spoke with great fervor and taught about Jesus accurately, though he knew only the baptism of John. He began to speak boldly in the synagogue. When Priscilla and Aquila heard him, they invited him to their home and explained to him the way of God more adequately." Acts 18:24–26

God created men and women to be helpmates, counterbalances, and companions to one another. Jointly, they more adequately understand and explain life's mysteries and the hope within themselves. For this reason, Graham Memorial Presbyterian Church offers a variety of forums in which both men and women may interact to play out this biblical example. Adult co-ed ministries are responsible for many dear friendships, often spanning five or more decades, among our members. Our invitation to visit all the groups described below is open to the community, single, engaged, married, divorced, or widowed. No advance notice necessary. Never an obligation to become a member.

Truth Tuesday - Why You Think the Way You Do

Glenn Sunshine demonstrates the decisive effect that the growth of Christianity had in transforming the outlook of the Roman culture into one that, based on biblical concepts of humanity and its relationship with God, established virtually all the positive aspects of Western civilization. Unique among books on the topic, this book, discusses Western worldviews as a continuous narrative rather than simply as a catalogue of ideas and traces the effects changes in worldview had on society. It helps readers understand their own worldviews and those of other people and helps them recognize the consequences that worldviews hold. Join Pastor David and Jody McElrath as they lead a group study on Tuesday evenings.

    Schedule: Begins, Tuesday, May 23  .  7:00pm - 8:00pm
Location: Parish Hall, 975 C Avenue, Coronado.
Invitation: Open to men and women of any age.
Purpose: Discussion-based, in-depth Bible study designed to explore what it means to embody Christ's character in how we work and live.

A Survey of the Book of Romans

Because Paul was introducing himself to the Romans, he carefully outlined his beliefs. And because Paul was writing to help strengthen the faith of these young Christians, he was careful to build his case slowly, starting with the basics. The result was a concise, logical and well-ordered presentation of the Christian theology. The result was a case for renewing one's mind in a mindless world.

    Schedule: Begins, Sunday, February 26  .  10:30am - 11:30am
Location: Parish Hall, 975 C Avenue, Coronado.
Invitation: Open to men and women of any age.
Purpose: Discussion-based, survey of the book of Romans to learn what it looks like to be transformed by renewing of one's mind.
