Kirk Visitor owes its moniker to the Scots, who played a prominent role in early Presbyterian history. Kirk is the Scottish word for church.
The Kirk Visitor started as a tabloid print newsletter published by Graham Memorial Presbyterian Church. Members of the staff, congregation, ministries, and missions write, edit, print, and assemble the newsletter to inform church members and friends of current events and to maintain connection to the church community.
In 2009, the Kirk Visitor became available in HTML format, viewable online in full color, with scalable text and hyperlinks to web sites referenced in the content.
In 2010, the church retired the monthly print Kirk Visitor and replaced it with an electronic news messenger, the Kirk Courier. By the end of 2010, a new perpetual tabloid publication will serve as the comprehensive print version of the church website, including directories, events, history, maps, missionary journals, news, photos, and staff reports. This periodical, Kirk Works, will be available to all to pick up in the church narthex or church office.
