The Graham Memorial Presbyterian Church Board of Deacons is the pastor’s 15 extra pairs of eyes, ears, hands, and feet. Deacons may be any age over 21, either male or female, but they share two characteristics that are obvious in all that they say and do: they love people, and they love helping people in need.
A complete description of deacon attributes and duties is available in the Book of Order—the Constitution of the Presbyterian Church—available as a downloadable PDF at the the church website. A listing of our current board appears here.
Each May, the Graham Memorial Presbyterian Church Nominating Committee considers five church-member candidates willing to accept deacon responsibility for three-year terms, to begin the following January. The five incoming deacons replace another five who are completing their three-year terms.
If you feel a calling to serve in the compassionate capacity of a deacon, discuss your interest with the church Moderator of the Board of Deacons.
