Our Outreach Missions
We Love to Share the Word with the World
"He said unto them, 'Go ye into all the world, and preach the good news to all creation.' "
Mark 16:15
Known as the Great Commission, this Scripture was Jesus's post-resurrection instruction to his disciples. The Graham Memorial Presbyterian Church Missions Committee continues to follow this instruction by distributing fifteen percent of the church annual budget to local ministries and missions around the world. This page describes the organizations we support whose primary focus is evangelism.
Organizations that provide both social services and promote evangelism appear on Our Outreach Ministries page.

| Once calling themselves the forgotten people, the two million Afar shepherds of eastern Ethiopia are benefiting from our intensive five-year partnership with World Vision. The Afar-inhabited portion of the formerly drought-prone African desert now blooms with hundreds of backyard farms, three health clinics treat the population, and four schools are educating 3,000 Afar children, including girls for the first time. Pastor David made a missionary visit to the Afar tribe in 2007 and a second mission trip with church elder Rick Moore in 2009. | Partnerships with local organizations are the key to fulfilling a vision of planting churches in every town, village, and community in this vast region of more than 200 million people. The Horn of Africa Mission works almost exclusively through local partners to help them to develop successful outreach strategies, train them in effective principles of church multiplication, and provide appropriate resources. To date, more than 120 of these partnerships are functioning throughout the Horn of Africa region and are responsible for developing a body of believers in the Afar tribe, which was considered to be impossible when outreach began just six years ago. The mission founder, Dr. Markos Zemede, and Ayche Beyene, the Ethiopian director appearing with his wife Tsega in the photo above, have made presentations to Graham Memorial Presbyterian Church, the most recent in June 2009. Pastor David and Richard Moore personally visited the Addis Abbaba mission headquarters earlier in the same year. |
