Subscribe to the Kirk Courier» Our New Electronic Messenger

Broadcast Monday, March 1
Last year, two things became clear: we couldn't keep pace with publishing a monthly print Kirk Visitor, and the Kirk Visitor no longer kept pace with the informational needs of the congregation. Even the monthly email version of the Kirk Visitor lagged behind our rushing current events. So we've retired both.

The Kirk Courier now delivers all types of church news to email subscribers. This sleek, compact news vehicle has no submission deadlines and no firm publication dates. Whenever news needs to reach the congregation, the Kirk Courier delivers. Subscription is free to all, and subscribers may leave the list at any time with one click. The church saves money formerly spent on paper, printing, and postage, and news reaches the congregation instantly. It's a win-win situation.

Actually, the Kirk Courier is both messenger and usher. It arrives in subscribers' email inboxes resembling a resort stationery ensemble and offers only headlines of a wide range of topics and one simple link to the singular, most comprehensive and up-to-date source of church information—the website. When recipients click on that one link, the Kirk Courier instantly opens subscribers' web browsers and escorts them to the church website, where announcements, invitations, photos, and links to audio clips and videos await!

If you're reading this announcement, you probably were a subscriber to the Kirk Visitor, and your subscription transferred automatically to the Kirk Courier. If you happened upon this page by some other means, we invite you to join the emailing list by clicking on the link that follows.

If you're a leader of one of the church educational or fellowship groups or a representative of an outreach ministry or mission and you want our church membership to see your announcements, the Kirk Courier welcomes your email submissions.

Watch for Kirk Works: Our New Church Ambassador

Broadcast Monday, March 1
Later this year, Graham Memorial Presbyterian Church members will have a full array of print and electronic publications from which to choose:

  • weekly announcements printed in Sunday worship bulletins
  • frequent as-needed news headlines in the electronic Kirk Courier
  • near-daily updated church website
  • and a new perpetual print tabloid named Kirk Works

Think of Kirk Works as a print version of the church website. To be available for pick up at various locations throughout the church campus, Kirk Works will offer guests, visitors, and membership a colorful broad overview of Graham Memorial Presbyterian Church, including all of the following:

  • campus map and directories
  • staff profiles
  • itemization and description of groups and annual events for all age brackets
  • lay leadership opportunities
  • mission and ministry outreach
  • description of Presbyterian beliefs
  • campus history
  • full-color photography and graphics

As supplies of Kirk Works deplete, the church office will reprint. Kirk Works will incorporate new information submitted to the Kirk Courier—automatically—so content will reflect the most current descriptions of Graham Memorial Presbyterian Church, and those who submit news for all church publications, do so just once, to just one address. Publication target is September 2010.

Read What's New in Pastor David's Personal Library

Broadcast Monday, March 1
At Sunday, February 21 worship services, Pastor David recommended a new booklet that he's added to his personal library: My Heart—Christ's Home.
Visit Pastor David's Library.»

During the past fifty years, more than ten million readers have enjoyed Robert Boyd Munger's spiritually challenging meditation on Christian discipleship. Imagining how it would be to have Jesus come to the home in our hearts, Munger moves from chamber to chamber, considering what Christ desires for us.

In the living room, we prepare to meet Christ daily. In the dining room, we examine together what appetites should and should not control us. We even explore the closets in our lives that Christ can help us to reorganize. By practicing Munger's profound message, we give Christ control over each of the rooms in our heart. The result? Happier, healthier homes . . . and lives. Isn't it about time for spring cleaning?

Know Your Year 2010 Session Officers

Broadcast Monday, March 1
After the annual congregational meeting on the last Friday evening of every January, one of three slates of deacons and elders begins a new three-year term of service to fill positions left by a slate whose term expires. Pastor David then asks elders to chair each of the eight standing committees of Session. Elders typically chair a committee throughout their terms, leaving the chairs vacant and ready for reassignment only upon term expiration.

The 2010 Session committee officers are in place. When members of the congregation have questions or suggestions for Session committees, the following elders are the points of contact:
